I am for the child.
About us
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of South Central KY, Inc. is a non-profit agency dedicated to preventing and eliminating further trauma to children. Specifically, CASA works to prevent child victims of abuse, neglect and dependency from being abused both in and out of their family of origin. The CASA concept is based on the commitment that every child has the right to a safe, permanent home as soon as possible. Volunteers will advocate for these children through the child welfare system, the Family Court and attorneys, that serve Warren, Barren, Butler, Edmonson and Metcalfe Counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. By using trained community volunteers as advocates for these abused and neglected children, we can prevent them from being further abused by a system that should be protecting them.

CASA of South Central KY is excited to announce our next New Advocate Training! The training will be held in August. The training is a total of 30 hours, which is mandated by the National CASA organization. Previously the format was all 30 hours in a classroom setting. But now, National CASA offers a new format. It is still 30 hours, but only 15 hours are in the classroom. The other 15 hours are done in a self-guided online learning environment. That lets you do half of the course at home on your own schedule, sitting around in your PJs if you want. We hope this encourages more folks to volunteer as it is more flexible for their schedules. Plus, we are doing the 15 classroom hours over 5 evenings, so it hopefully won’t be a work conflict. We have a goal of getting 20 new Advocates into this training class. Can you help us meet this goal and reduce the number of children on the waiting list for a CASA? See the included flyer image for the exact dates and times for the classroom component. The classroom portion will be held in Bowling Green, the exact location to be announced. In addition to the new format, CASA has expanded! We now serve Allen, Barren, Edmonson, Hart, Metcalfe, Simpson, and Warren counties. This makes CASA of South Central KY the third largest CASA program in Kentucky. And with more growth comes the need for more Volunteers! So please consider giving some of your time to abused and neglected children in our community! Today is Juneteenth, a day in which we celebrate the last remaining enslaved African American people being freed in the United States. As we celebrate this day, let us also recogize the work that still needs to be done to ensure our child welfare system is equitable for all.
